Working principle of AC electrical contactor

2024-04-25

The working principle of AC electrical contactor is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. Its structure includes a fixed iron core, an electromagnetic coil, a movable iron core, and a contact. There is a spring connection between the fixed iron core and the movable iron core, and the two ends of the electromagnetic coil are respectively connected to the AC power supply and neutral line.

When the control circuit is energized, an alternating magnetic field is generated in the electromagnetic coil due to the alternation of current, which will cause an alternating magnetic flux on the iron core and the movable iron core. Under the action of the movable iron core, the contact can contact with the fixed contact, realizing the circuit being energized.

When the control circuit is de-energized, there is no current passing through the electromagnetic coil, the magnetic field disappears, and under the action of the spring, the movable iron core and the contact return to the original position, and the circuit is de-energized.

Therefore, AC electrical contactor can achieve switch control of AC circuits by controlling the on/off status of the control circuit. AC electrical contactor has a wide range of applications, and can be used to control motors, lighting, heating equipment, etc., improving the safety and reliability of the circuit.
